OCC Youth is our choir for singers in grades 8 through 10. They rehearse separately from our older singers, which allows us to focus on the vocal concerns that singers of this age face. As well, it allows our junior high school singers to connect more deeply with each other and be mentored by members of the Okanagan Youth Choir. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 5-7pm in downtown Kelowna.
Rehearsals will include, but not be limited to, the following elements:
- community connection
- vocal tech time and pedagogy – developing our voices individually and as a group
- helping our singers navigate smoothly through voice change
- learning new music in a variety of styles
- working on our sight singing and musicianship skills
Cost for the full year of singing is approximately $500, plus a refundable music deposit. Financial support is available for those with financial need.
